5 Ways To Get More Done In Your Day

December 09, 20244 min read

As busy entrepreneurs, especially for moms like me juggling both family and business, getting more done in a day can feel like a Herculean task. I own two businesses: Nat-Zen.com, where I offer holistic products, and my consulting agency, Soul-Led Ecommerce, where I help product-based businesses scale to $5k+ months. So, trust me when I say, finding ways to optimize your day is essential.

In this post, I’ll share 5 tips that have personally helped me and my clients boost productivity while maintaining balance between business and family life. Whether you’re a mompreneur, small business owner, or product-based entrepreneur, these strategies will help you reclaim your time and energy!

1. Time Blocking & Prioritization

One of the best ways to optimize your day is through time blocking. Essentially, this involves dividing your day into blocks of time dedicated to specific tasks. This method has helped me manage my two businesses and still have time for family. By scheduling out blocks for key priorities, I focus on one thing at a time, which reduces the overwhelm of multitasking.

Pro tip: Use time blocks not just for work but also for personal tasks like exercise, meal prep, or self-care. Adding breaks to recharge your mind will increase your efficiency. This will allow you to achieve a better work-life balance.

2. Delegate Tasks

No one can do everything on their own, and that’s perfectly okay! Delegating tasks is a game-changer for business owners. Whether it’s hiring a virtual assistants, using automated software, or handing over smaller tasks to family members, delegating frees you up to focus on bigger, high-impact activities.

For example, in my consulting business, I delegate tasks like scheduling social media posts by using tools like Tailwind or Predis.ai (which creates your content for you),  and responding to customer inquiries to assistants. In my ecommerce shop, I use systems that automate order fulfillment and inventory management.

3. Set Daily Goals

Each morning, I sit down and set my top 3 non-negotiable tasks for the day. These are the tasks that must be done, regardless of what else comes up. Setting clear goals helps direct your energy and avoid getting sidetracked by less important tasks.

The trick is to be realistic about what you can accomplish. This will prevent you from overloading your to-do list and help you feel more accomplished by the end of the day.

4. Use Productivity Tools

Leverage productivity tools to save time. In my ecommerce and consulting businesses, tools like Taskade help streamline communication and task management. It creates everything for you and has AI agents integrated as well to help you with tasks in your business. There are plenty of tools available depending on your needs—whether it's managing your team, tracking tasks, or even monitoring website performance. Business automation is essential if you plan to grow and scale your business.

Automation tools, such as email marketing platforms and social media schedulers, can also significantly reduce manual work, leaving you with more time to focus on high-priority tasks.

Pro tip: Try out a combination of tools for maximum efficiency. For example, pairing a task management tool with a calendar and time-blocking app can create an optimized workflow.

5. Embrace Flexibility

Finally, while structure is important, it’s also crucial to be flexible. Things will come up—especially as a mom or business owner—that derail your plans. Rather than stressing over it, build some flexibility into your schedule. This can look like buffer times between tasks or even having a catch-up day at the end of the week for anything left unfinished.

In my business as ecommerce marketing consultant I've learned that being adaptable is key. Some days I don’t hit my goals, and that’s okay. The key is to stay consistent over time and to give yourself grace when things don’t go as planned.
